MULTICULTURAL COMMISSION

The Office of the State's Attorney for Prince George's County

The mission of the Multicultural Commission for the Office of the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County (SAO) is to support and foster long-term relationships with members of our community and various multicultural organizations. This effort seeks to ensure that we address the safety issues and concerns of our multicultural communities.  It is our goal this will result in sustainable cultural programming, increase awareness and  and understanding of SAO priorities and initiatives, and facilitate an exchange of ideas and interests related to public safety specific to our communities in Prince George's County, Maryland. The Commission is comprised of individual citizens and residents representing 20 different nationalities appointed by the State’s Attorney.
Vision: To assist the SAO in its mission and vision by providing equitable resources and services to all Prince Georgians and to apply one standard of justice to all who come into contact with the criminal justice system. Key aspects are the promotion and administering of justice in a way that serves our community in a fair and transparent manner.
Each commissioner will represent their country of origin and will serve a two (2) year term, with a maximum time of service being four (4) years. The Multicultural Commission conducts quarterly meetings and hosts special events that give our multicultural communities the opportunity to establish relationships, share experiences and connect on issues of surrounding public safety. The Commission will hold an annual celebration highlighting the various ethnic and cultural composition within the group while continuing to raise awareness.
