Digital Evidence Legal Assistant

The Prince George’s County Office of the State’s Attorney has openings for Digital Evidence (DE) Legal Assistants. The DE Legal Assistants are assigned to the Discovery Unit responsible for processing digital evidence contained on body worn cameras , cruiser cameras, and other surveillance devices. The principal function of this employee is to perform a variety of tasks under the general direction and support of State’s Attorneys, or upper-level management team. A significant aspect of this work involves working effectively and tactfully with people from all socio-economic backgrounds.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
The candidates selected must have the ability to perform digital data maintenance and related legal support work. This position requires use of judgment to recognize circumstances requiring further clarification or information.
Typical duties include: Assists in the request, review, extraction, storage, and preparation of digital evidence; Converts discoverable evidence extracted from body worn cameras, cruiser cameras, and other surveillance devices to a form to be produced to the defense and to be useable in trial.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION FOR CANDIDATES:
Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; High school or equivalent; Microsoft Office; able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to deal tactfully, courteously, and effectively with people; uses diplomacy and discretion in performing assigned office duties.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Candidates must pass a background investigation and drug screen.
